  • A sporting goods store, Golf Clubs USA, is willing to pay much more for an assignment--$70 to $100. But this assignment also requires a minimum of one hour in the store and another hour and a half to two hours reporting on the experience of shopping in the store. 

Mystery shops tend to have different objectives, depending upon the goals of different companies. For example, one mystery shop may be used to determine how well cashiers handle cash, while another might measure how knowledgeable a sales clerk is about the products he or she sells. 

Another common device is the comparison shop. This is an assignment in which you, the mystery shopper, conduct an assessment of the client's competition by shopping there.

When conducting a mystery shopping assignment, there are a number of questions which you will probably have to answer. Such questions include:
